Port de Sóller is a tourist resort which curves
round a natural harbour; this is one of few safe havens for
sailors seeking refuge on the north coast of Mallorca, and
the spectacular nature of the bay can be fully appreciated
by taking a boat trip from the port. You can reach the
resort on the old tram which runs along the 5 km route from
Sóller village, which lies slightly inland; the tram is used
by hundreds of tourists every day, most of whom come to the
Valley of Sóller by train from
Palma de Mallorca.
Owing to the fact that Port de Sóller receives many visitors,
there is a wide range of restaurants and shops. There are
also several hotels, offering accommodation in a peaceful
and relaxing resort within a spectacular setting. In the
cooler months outside the height of the season the hotels of
Port de Sóller fill with visitors who come to enjoy walking
trips in the area. |
